Pi Approximation Day: 7 / 22 or 22 / 7.Pi is derived by dividing a circle's circumference by its diameter.Historically, many people have attempted To derive an accurate, unending number. The inability to reach precise measurements, Has always hovered around the 'true' number. Pi Approximation Day celebrates an 'inaccurate,' Never-ending number, Not for exactness, but how many have tried to understand it. Pi Day must use the US 'month-day' format to get 3.14. Pi Approximation Day uses either date-system, But actually Archimedes' solution was 22 / 7. The approximate value is never-ending, 3.14159265. The Babylonians calculated Pi as 3.125 in 2000 BCE. The Egyptians used 3.1605. Archimedes came closest: He calculated Pi as between 223 / 71 and 22 / 7, but never exact. Technically, the date format using 22 July (7) is important. So, 3.14 is interpreted using the month-day system And 22 / 7 is determined from the day-month format. The important thing is that this day celebrates Human effort towards understanding. |
